AIRI Rama 5, Nonthaburi
Project Brief
A 200 sq.m. interior within the AIRI Rama 5 residential development, Nonthaburi — a project that works with the constraints of a townhouse typology to deliver spatial drama where it is least expected.
The living space is defined by a double-height void that runs from ground floor to upper level, giving the compact footprint a vertical generosity that transforms the experience of the home. Against this open volume, the material palette operates through deliberate contrast: white lacquer panels and large-format stone flooring on the ground plane, offset by deep navy built-in joinery, dark granite surfaces, and a black metal-slat staircase balustrade that reads as sculpture as much as structure. Warm timber — in floor parquet, wall panels, and kitchen millwork — mediates between the two registers and keeps the interior from reading as cold.
The upper level continues the material language with greater intimacy. A dressing area, framed by a timber slatted screen and stone-clad walls, provides a transition between the social spaces below and the bedroom beyond. The bedroom is resolved through integrated joinery — timber veneer wall panels with recessed niches and built-in bedside lighting — a quiet counterpart to the drama of the floor below. The result is a home that uses its section, rather than its plan, as its primary design instrument.
